Collection Policy
South Lake Pediatrics is committed to providing quality care while adhering to the Minnesota Medical Debt Legislation. Our collection policy aims to ensure transparency, fairness, and compliance with state laws regarding medical debt.
Payment Responsibility
- Patient Responsibility: Patients are responsible for all charges incurred, including co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles, and any unpaid balances.
- Payment Plans: We offer flexible payment plans for patients who are unable to pay their balance in full. Please contact our billing office at (952) 401-8282 to discuss options.
Billing Procedures
- Statements: Patients will receive itemized statements outlining charges, payments, and balances. Statements will be sent monthly until the balance is resolved.
- Communication: We will make reasonable efforts to contact patients via phone and written communication regarding outstanding balances before initiating collection actions.
- Grace Period: Patients will have a minimum of 30 days from the date of the statement to make payment before any collection actions are taken.
Collection Actions
- Referral to Collections: If a balance remains unpaid after 90 days from the initial statement, the account may be referred to a third-party collection agency. Patients will be notified in writing prior to referral.
- Legal Compliance: All collection efforts will comply with applicable laws, including the Minnesota Medical Debt Legislation, ensuring that no illegal or unethical practices are used.
Patient Rights
- Dispute Resolution: Patients have the right to dispute any charges. Disputes should be submitted in writing to our billing office at 17705 Hutchins Dr. #250, Minnetonka, MN 55345 within 30 days of receiving a statement.
Financial Assistance: Patients experiencing financial hardship may qualify for Medical Assistance through Minnesota’s Medicaid program. Please call 651-431-2670 for more information on how to apply.
