A Guide for New Parents
Choose a pediatrician sooner rather than later
We invite parents-to-be to make a free “meet you” appointment at any of our 5 convenient locations. You can meet with one of our Pediatricians or Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and start a relationship with them–a relationship that will grow as your child grows. We’ll talk about breastfeeding, your well check schedule and any questions or concerns you may have.
Find out if breastfeeding right for you
At South Lake Pediatrics, many of our Nurse Practitioners are certified lactation consultants. We stay up to date on the latest research and can provide the guidance, answers and reassurance you need. In the hospital, we’ll support your breastfeeding experience and discuss the normal nursing patterns as your baby grows and changes at home. We can even help you develop a plan tailored to help you continue nursing should you choose to return to work.
Be prepared for baby’s first days at home
From feeding, burping and bowel movements to diaper care, bathing and more, South Lake Pediatrics’ physicians and Nurse Practitioners will give you the information—and confidence—you need to ensure both you and your baby stay healthy and happy during those first days and weeks at home together.
Schedule your child’s vaccinations
Thanks to vaccines, most parents today do not need to watch their children suffer from diseases that were common just a few decades ago. At South Lake Pediatrics, we’ll schedule your infant’s exams and immunizations so they are safely protected against diseases such as hepatitis B, rotavirus, diphtheria, tetanus and more.
These are just some of the complexities of new motherhood South Lake Pediatrics can help you navigate. South Lake Pediatrics also offers treatment for infants with special needs, family nutrition guidance, referral services for post-partum depression and more.
